How young is too young for piano
lessons?
There are
children that tinker around on a piano from the ripe old age of two! However, I suggest that the age of 5 or 6 is
a good time to begin piano lessons. By that time, they tend to have stronger
mental and physical abilities that enable them to learn playing. They have stronger attention spans and eye to
hand dexterity. At a young age, it is
important for children to be able to experience signs of ability and
improvement for their continued interest.
At these young ages, it is even more important to instill a sense of improvement,
a sense of skill and a sense of fun in learning anything, especially the
piano! You want them to experience
lifelong enjoyment from the piano, so learning the piano with fun and enjoyment
as the foundation is especially important at this young age, or for any age!
I’d love to play the piano, but am
afraid I’m too old to learn. How old is
too old?
Many
pianists and composers and musicians play the piano well into their 90’s. It is widely regarded that doing mental
exercise keeps our brains functioning at a higher level as we age. My methods of teaching also make it much
easier to learn the piano than the traditional classical method.
Want to play
the songs from when you were high school?
From college? Want to play songs
from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond? You’ll begin that on day one!
I recently
saw a set of statistics that said just 20% of adults took piano lessons when they
were children, but 76% now wished they had! Now's your chance!
It is NEVER
EVER TOO LATE! You’ll keep your mind
young, amazed at how much you learn and have fun to boot!
How much do piano lessons cost?
I will come to your home to
teach. The fees are very affordable at
$80/month**, paid in full at the beginning of each month. There is one lesson per week for 30 minutes
each week.
Some students want to quicken
the pace of learning so they have two lessons each week. I offer a discount on this plan. Instead of $160/month, it is $150/month, paid
in full at the beginning of each month, providing two lessons, and a full hour
of instruction each week.
For example:
One lesson per week making four lessons/month =$80/month
Two lessons per week making 8 lessons/month =$150/month
If you would like to learn at an even faster pace, the fee is $20/half hour for anytime beyond either plan.

Two lessons per week making 8 lessons/month =$150/month

**Some travel fees may not be included:
• If you live on the Northshore of
New Orleans, there is no travel fee.
• If you live in New Orleans or
Metairie, the travel fee is an additional $10 per lesson.
• If you live on the Mississippi
Gulf Coast, the travel fee is an additional $15 per lesson.
How long are the piano lessons?

If you would like to learn at an even faster
pace, that option is available as well!
How long will I be a student?
Some students may learn quite quickly,
others may take a little longer depending on how much fun they’re having
playing the songs they love! In all
candor, my method will teach young and old alike to play piano far faster than
traditional classical-piano training. And with my method, you’ll have an enormous
amount of fun while you are learning to play.
You
can go from a piano novice to playing intermediate onto advanced in a shorter
time period than you may have ever thought possible. Classical training can take years!!! If you want to be a classically trained
concert pianist, go that route. In many
years you will finally be ready to play that modern tune you’ve been dying to
play. But if you’re like the 99% of the
world that just wants to have fun and learn to play the piano in a very
skillful and beautiful way, then I am confident in saying that this method can
get you what you want, much sooner rather than way later!
If
at any time you or your child advances so far that we discover someone is a
prodigy, we’ll be as they say in New Orleans, “on that like beans on
rice!” We’ll discuss the options and see
if being classically trained is the route they should go.
I
don’t want to appear “negative” on classical training. I am amazed at their talent and patience
levels. But I am also a realist. And I know that 99% of people and
children just simply want to learn to play the piano and be happy, not wait and
practice over and over what can often be seen as drudgery from day one.
On
day one with MY method, you will play a song YOU or YOUR CHILD want to play! And my guess is you’ll or they will be MUCH
happier.
All
in all, learning the piano NEVER EVER ENDS!
You can take it as near or as far as you want to! And that’s the amazing beauty of it. No matter how skilled someone becomes at the
piano, there’s always more fun and learning to be experienced! Trust me on this. I’ve been playing for over 30 years and I play
almost every day, and every day I get my “piano fix.” I’m hoping the same for you!
Do you offer piano lessons in the
summertime?
I offer them year round, rain or
shine. Plus, it helps to stay “tuned”
into the fun!
What if I forget my piano lesson?
I can reschedule sometimes if
need be, however, you are still
responsible for payment for the missed lesson.
But I will do my best to work with anyone in scheduling to help out in
certain situations.
Will you come to my house to teach lessons?
I
try to do all piano teaching in my clients’ homes. It adds a level of convenience for you that
other teachers may not offer. However,
if you wish, we could hold the lesson in my home. My wife is a freelance writer and stay-at-home mom with our two
children. They are 12 and 10. We’d be glad to have you, or, I can come to
you!
What kind of piano do I need for lessons?
If it’s a piano or digital
keyboard of full size, we can work with it whether it's old or new, though you would want it to
be in tune to experience the beautiful sounds a newly tuned piano can
offer. I know some tuners that are very
affordable and would love to help if needed.
Do you tune pianos?
Unfortunately
not, however, I know some tuners that
are very affordable and would love to help if needed.
